Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you so much for electing me to serve as your representative for New Mexico House District 29. I am deeply honored and pledge to do my very best to listen to your concerns and to be responsive, accountable and ethical.
As an educator, I know that we need less testing and more teaching in our classrooms, smaller class sizes, and early childhood education so that every child in New Mexico has every possible opportunity to succeed.
As a local resident in Northwest Albuquerque, I know our roads, infrastructure and unique destinations need development, maintenance and investment.
Our economy needs some serious work, too. That’s why I want to help our state build home-grown industries that will provide careers for a lifetime, like our film, wind and solar energy, high-tech, and healthcare industries. Building a better economy means more employment, higher wages, and less crime across our state. We need more neighborhood policing and drug treatment options to help solve our crime problem, and we need common-sense reform to keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals.
That’s why I ran for the State House—to be a fighter for our communities so they are better places for everyone to live. Now the work begins!
I am committed to being your voice in Santa Fe. On the pages of this website, I will continue to keep you informed of what I am doing for you. I invite you to contact me at any time: email me at Joy.Garratt@nmlegis.gov for legislative related matters. I will also regularly check Joy4NewMexico@gmail.com. Call me or text me at 505-977-5039. Please remember that we serve as citizen legislators. When working as an elementary school instructional coach, I will respond to you outside of my working day. However, I will always get back to you.
Again, thank you for giving me the great honor of serving as your representative.
